Free Farm Financial Management Training from The Carrot Project

The Carrot Project is very pleased to announce that we have developed a free, accelerated online version of our Making It Happen: Profitability and Success farm financial management training. Participants will learn and apply financial management tools to their business that will help them answer questions such as: “Can I pay my bills?", “Is a capital investment worth it?”, "Is this the right price?”, or “Should I add a new product line?"

Please note: This pilot online course is held from 12-2 pm Eastern Time on March 19 and March 26, 2018. Participants should plan to participate actively in both sessions, using a microphone and webcam, and to spend several hours on homework before and after the first session. Attendees will also have access to free one-on-one coaching with an instructor to apply lessons learned to their own businesses.

The training is intended for producers with at least one year of operating experience. Lead presenter: Julia Shanks of The Carrot Project. Registration includes both online sessions, supplementary videos, and one-on-one coaching with an instructorRegistration fee will be refunded after participants complete the final course survey.

This interactive online course will use the GoToMeeting platform, available on computers, tablets, and mobile devices. Using a microphone is required, and using a webcam is strongly suggested. Attendees will receive call-in details and curriculum materials after registering and completing a pre-survey.

We hope the online setting will make this course more widely accessible. Please contact kbh@thecarrotproject.org with any questions about registration, participation, or technical requirements.

The Carrot Project's work facilitates access to financing and business support so that today’s small farm and food businesses can grow into thriving, enduring enterprises.

We make long-term investments in the building blocks of the food system that contribute to healthful food for consumers, a replenished environment, and strengthened regional and local economies. The Carrot Project works at the forefront of change by helping to create a sustainable local farm and food economy.
